Eugene B. Leavitt, 93 of 803 Holloway Ave., widower of Helen Osgood Leavitt died Friday, February 13, 2009 at Hospice House.

Born in Southern Pines, NC, he was a son of the late Bernard and Nellie Bradford Wood Leavitt. Eugene retired from United Telephone Company after 27 years of service and was a member of Greenwood Church of Christ.

Surviving are seven daughters: Anne Rutherford of Brandon, FL, Vera Jean Allen of Erwin, TN, Linda Louise McCarthy of Blairsville, GA, Dottie Ellen Gibson of Lakeland, FL, Edna Jane Hayes of Johnson City, TN, Julie Kay Rankin of Greenwood and Joan Moore of Winter Haven, FL; a brother Burney Leavitt, Jr.; twenty six grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren
