TEMPE -- Hollis Ross Moomaw, 71, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, died March 7, 1986, at Desert Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Moomaw, of Tempe, was born in Iola, Kan., and moved to Arizona in 1924 from California. During his 31 years in the service, he worked as advisor to the Japanese self-defense force, the Chinese Air Force and the NATO southern command in Italy. He was a member of the East Valley Church of Christ and was a youth group sponsor for the church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Sharyl Thompson and Lynn Burns; son, Jim; and two grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Carr Mortuary, 1445 E. Southern. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tempe Church of Christ, 2424 S. Mill. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Valley Church of Christ, P.O. Box 26666, Tempe 85282.
