Lillian Mulvaney died at age 91 on May 29, 2012 at Archbold Hospital. She was born on June 30, 1920 in Alton, Illinois, daughter of Chester and Lucille Buck. When her parents divorced, her mother remarried Jewell H. Thornton who was a wonderful stepfather. She grew up in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In 1939 after college she married John R. Mulvaney who preceded her in death. They had one daughter, Roberta (Bobbi) M. Hewins (Brian) of Pasadena, California. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Evansville, Indiana for over 50 years. They moved to Thomasville, Georgia in 1977 after her husband retired. They were members of First United Methodist Church and Sue McTier Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Newcomers Club and the Countless Vandal Garden Club and elected president of Thomasville Garden Club, Inc. in 1990.

She is survived by her daughter, Bobbi and two granddaughters, Becki Larsen and Julie Leroux and eight great grandchildren all of California. She is also survived by a special Thomasville daughter Margaret Simmons (Edwin). She and her family were special in her life. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Jane McKittrick, of Tallahassee, Florida and is survived by her niece, Jill Baumgardner, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and nephew, Bill McKittrick, of Tallahassee, Florida. She is preceded in death by many special friends. A memorial service will be held at Southern Pines Retirement Center on June 20 at 2:00 P.M. The Reverend Bob Dixon will officiate. Burial of the cremains and graveside services will be held at a later date in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home
