Richard Raymond Reid, 71 Route 1, Columbus Junction, died Monday, May 11, 1987, at Washington County Hospital.
Services will be held Thursday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Chapel with Rev. Elmer Armstrong officiating.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Sherman, Scott, and Randy Hyde, Terry, Larry and Perry Honts, Ross Masonholder, Christopher, David, Allan, Matthew, Mark, Richard L., Aaron, Nathan, Steven and Jason Reid, Gary and Jeffrey Idle, James and Richard Arthur, Mathew, Paul Jr. and Dallas Dickey.
Flower attendants will be granddaughters Monica Seitz, Cindy Jones, Rebecca Masonholder, Brenda, Anita, Sarah, Rosalie K., Jeri Mae, Rachelle, Kim, Sonya and Amber Reid, Amy Idle, Jennifer Williams, and Jessica and Laura Beth Arthur.
Burial will be in the Indian Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Reid was born October 23, 1915, near Grandview, the son of David Thomas and Lydia Margaret Wheeler Reid. He married Rosalie Johnson August 31, 1935, at Rock Island, Illinois. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Richard D. Jr. and Dallas M., both of Columbus Junction; Lee of Blackfoot, Idaho; Leland and Randy C., both of Grays Lake, Illinois; and Lyle Bruce of Wapello; five daughters, Ann Honts of North Liberty; Mrs. Ronald (Charlotte) Masonholder of Chillicothe, Illinois; Janet M. Williams of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Ivan (Christal) Arthur of Washington; and Mrs. Paul (Abby) Dickey of Wilton; 40 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Myrle Briggs of Wapello, Mrs. Verlee Cassabaum and Mrs. Clair (Dorothy) Johnson, both of Columbus Junction.
He was preceded in death by a son Gary; a daughter, Darlene; three brothers, Earl Orval, and Virgil Reid; one sister, Mildren Stagner, and one granddaughter.
