OBITUARY COURTESY OF GLENN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY - 06/17/2012 - Marilyn C. Murphy, 80, 0f Owensboro, passed away on June 15, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Daviess County to the late Emmett and Golda Mae Cooper. Marilyn was a graduate of Brescia University and worked as a payroll clerk and artist at Ellis Park for 55 years. Among other skills, she was known for her oil paintings and calligraphy. She attended Lewis Lane Baptist Church where she made many friends and participated in the exercise class. Marilyn was an animal lover, thoroughly enjoyed garage sales and was a passionate U.K. Wildcat fan. Marilyn is survived by a daughter, Karen Sharpe (Steve) of Las Vegas, Nevada; a son, Stephen Murphy (Neal Ann Keelin) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Steven Farshid, Krystal Murphy and Tiffany Shrider and a great granddaughter, Anaya Shrider. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 19 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. David Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday after 9:00 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Owensboro Humane Society.
