Theodore "Ted" Roosevelt Neal was born to Tempie Jane Craig and Thomas Neal on 22Aug1907 in Kentucky. He was probably born in Burnside, Pulaski, Kentucky, although no documentation has been found to substantiate it. His father died when Ted was 10-years old and in 1921 his mother next married Abraham Lincoln Burton.

In 1930, Ted worked as a truck driver for a junkyard in Muncie, Indiana. By 1940 he worked for the steam railroad in Center.

In 1932, he married Helen Vining in Grant County. Unable to have children of their own, the couple fostered three girls during their lives, Mary Ann Fields, Frances Dottson, and Arlene Ross.

In 1944, Ted worked as a utility maintenance mechanic for North American Aviation in Inglewood, CA.

By 1953, Ted worked for Hollymade Hardware in Los Angeles.

He died unexpectedly on 2Jun1956 from a barbiturate overdose and is buried at Greenhills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes. Buried beside him is Helen, his wife, and beside Helen is Ted's mother, Tempie.
