Mrs. Hazel Lester, 78, of Freedom died April 15, 1984 in Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born May 15, 1905 in the town of Eagle, she was a daughter of Sidney and Maude Granger Barber. On Feb. 25, 1924, she was married to Clifford S. Lester, who survives.
Mrs. Lester was a retired bus driver, having been employed by Robert Bus Service of Java Center for 30 years.
She was a member of Arcade Senior Citizens; a 25-year member of the WIEC Bowling Association, and a former 15-year president of the Homemakers Club.
Surviving besides her husband, are four sons, Donald Lester of Pompano Beach, Fla., Robert Lester of Sandusky, Gerald Lester and Cecil Lester, both of Freedom; a daughter, Mrs. Allene Schoepflin of Delevan; 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; three brothers, Claude Barber of Eagle, Edgar Barber and Vernon Barber, both of Bliss; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Ford of Bliss, and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Floyd Barber, predeceased her.
Friends may call at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home Inc., Arcade today and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Thursday (April 19, 1984) at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
