Clyde N. Smith, age 84, of 96 W. Main St., Angelica, died Tuesday March 12, 1968, in Bethesda Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born May 4, 1883, in Sandsuky, son of Fred and Clara Norton Smith. He had been a resident of Angelica for the past 50 years and was a farmer. Mr. Smith was married to Pearle Furguson, who died in 1940. He later married Ruth Bugbee, who died in 1966. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a past master of Melrose Lodge No. 818, F & AM, in Angelica.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mae Lonsberry of Canisteo; a step-son, George Holdridge of Belfast; two step-daughters, Mrs. James Paddock of Wellsville and Mrs. Charlotte Rich of Rochester; one grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great -grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mrs. John Lyke of Arcade.
Funeral and commital services were conducted March 15, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dwight Kenyon of the First Baptist Church of Belfast officiated. Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery, Freedom. Melrose Lodge conducted Masonic services Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
