Philippine Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the campaign in the Philippines in the United States Navy as a Gunner's Mate, Third Class. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery in September 1900. His citation reads "For extraordinary heroism and gallantry while under fire of the enemy at El Pardo, Cebu, Philippine Islands, 12 and 13 September 1899". His Medal was issued on November 21, 1900.
