Mr. Otis Merrell Brown died at his home on Rt. 1, Bruce, on Sunday morning, Nov 17, 1968. He was 52.
Mr. Brown was a retired farmer. He was born in Calhoun County and had lived almost his entire life here. He was the son of Mrs. Dovie James Brown Hardy of Calhoun City, who survives him, and the late Early C. Brown.
He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Brown was a fine man with a reputation for integrity and truth.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dollie Anglin Brown of Bruce; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann Blancho of Gary, Indiana and Miss Angielene Brown of Bruce; seven sons, Emmett Brown of Coffeeville, Larry Brown, Early Brown, Ray Brown, James Brown, Joey Brown and William Brown, all of Bruce; his mother Mrs. Dovie Hardy of Calhoun City; three sisters, Mrs. Guy Tedford and Mrs. Ruby Winter of Bruce and Mrs. Carl Bailey of Calhoun City and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Russell Young officiated, assisted by Rev. L. F. Haire. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Anthony Funeral Home of Bruce. Pallbearers were Brown Sullivan, Joel Sullivan, Clayton Anglin, Gwin Winter, Quay Brown and Charles Brown.
