Maurice "Buzz" Kennon, the son of Fred and Emma (Madison) Kennon was born November 2, 1920 near Carthage, South Dakota. He died on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Maurice attended school in Red Oak, graduating from Red Oak High School in l937. He was united in marriage to Mildred Askey on May 16, 1939 in Rockport, Missouri. He farmed near Stanton his entire life. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mildred on October 17, 2006; daughter: Barbara Kennon Holder; granddaughter: Heidi Ann Kennon; sisters: Audrey Smith and husband Charles and Patricia Kugler and husband Howard; brother: Randall Kennon.

Survivors include five sons: Richard and wife Marlene of Stanton, IA; Phil and wife Joyce of Red Oak, IA; Steven and wife Anne of Papillion, NE; Dale and wife Kay of East Moline, IL; Jerry and wife Vickie of Van Horn, IA; eleven grandchildren: Kevin Kennon of Stanton, IA; Terri Vennerberg of Stanton, IA; Michael Kennon of Marne, IA; Loni Keat of Red Oak, IA; Keri Kennon of Omaha, NE; Rodney Kennon of Omaha, NE; Bryce Kennon of Omaha, NE; Leah Maring of East Moline, IL; Amy Schroeder of East Moline, IL; Troy Kennon of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Kathryn Kennon of Van Horn, IA; twenty great-grandchildren: Kelley Kennon, Kreg Kennon, Allison Vennerberg, Danny Vennerberg, Ayli Kennon, Paige Kennon, Shay Berglund, Phylip Keat, Dylin Keat, Savannah Kennon, Bailey Kennon, Seth Kennon, Joshua Maring, Grace Maring, John Maring, Anna Maring, Caleb Schroeder, Carson Schroeder, Jonas Schroeder and Elizabeth Kennon; sister-in-law: Phyllis Kennon of Pittsburg, KS; many other relatives and friends.
