Louisville Times July 19, 1918- Earl Albers, 12-year old son of Anderson L. Albers, foreman of he Big Four railroad yards, living at 1220 Fern Street, died at 11:50 o'clock last night at the city hospital from injuries received early last night when he was run over by a freight train at Baxter avenue and the railroad crossing. It is believed that the boy had been playing around the freight cars when the train was standing on the tracks and had crawled under the car. The train suddenly started and the lad was caught beneath the wheels of the car. He was rushed to the city hospital, where his left arm was amputated at the shoulder and his left leg was also amputated in an effort to save his life. The boy was so badly mangled that he only lived a few hours after being struck.
