MOUNDRIDGE - R. Rolan "Buck" Shilts, 61, died June 16, 2012, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. He was born Aug. 5, 1950, in Wichita, to J. Richard and Vivian A. Stunkel Shilts. He was an educator, coach and farmer.
On Nov. 22, 1972, He married Carla A. Wedel in Moundridge. Survivors include: his wife, Carla, Moundridge; sons, R. Lucas Shilts, Greeley, Colorado, and Samuel Shilts, Platte City, Missouri; a daughter, Anna (Justin) Beyer, Burlington; sisters, Linda (Dean) Shilts-Baum, Howard and Kelly (Mark) Calvin, Garden City, and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Moundridge Funeral Home, with family present at 6 p.m. for a time of sharing and reminiscing. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to American Cancer Society-Melanoma Research Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
