Gertrude Markle was the daughter of Eliza Maria Markle b. 27 Aug 1849 Dundee, Ontario, Canada who married her 2nd cousin, Richard Draper Markle b.ca. 1853. Gertrude was one of 5 children born to this marriage. She had a twin who was stillborn according to records of Rochester, NY. The infant is also buried here.

Eliza's father was a salesman who demonstrated new mechanical sewing machines but it is not known when he died or whether her parents divorced. Her mother Eliza Maria Markle married 2nd on Feb 7 1891 to Samuel Foster Emery.

Gertrude Markle married April 21 1900 in Rochester, NY, Elwyn Copeland DuBois the son of Charles Henry DuBois and his wife Lydia Ann Carpenter. They had two children:

Gertrude Lillian DuBois born ca. 1902 NY moved to California. Gertrude age 28 was living in the 1930 census in Long Beach, Los Angeles Co CA in the home of Mary A. DuBois age 63, widowed, born PA who is listed as her Grandmother. I believe this to be Mary Ann DuBois born March 6, 1867 PA died Feb 27, 1953 Los Angeles Co CA. On death index she gives her father's last name as Hines.
Gertrude married John Maurice Westphal and they had two daughters Mary and Jeanette.

Charles Elwyn DuBois born April 9 1903 NY d. Dec 29 1996 Gilroy, Santa Clara Co CA married Marjorie E Gunyon b Apr 13 1905 IN d. Feb 14 1982 Los Angeles Co CA. They had two children, Betty and Robert.

Due to Gertrude's illness she was unable to care for her children. It is unknown at this time what happened to Gertrude's husband Elwyn.
Gertrude (Markle) DuBois died of an epileptic seizure at the State of New York Epilepsy Asylum. (SONYEA)

Her younger brother Eugene King Markle's 1st son Lawrence Eugene Markle named his 1st daughter Lillian Gertrude Markle in August 1925. Her namesake was Gertrude Lillian Dubois who passed away at the end of the year of an epileptic seizure.

The above written by someone else I filled in a few blanks and added some pictures.
Our great grandmother died too soon, stricken by an illness that made her an invalid prevented her from being the wife to Elwyn and a mother to her children Gertrude and Charles. Her children were raised by family members at what age I do not know. A great grandmother we never knew. She missed out on so much happiness. May she Rest in Peace. She was blessed with three granddaughters and one grandson; Mary, Jeanette, Betty and Charles Robert.
