Donald J. Yusten

Donald J. Yusten, 86, of Zumbrota, Minnesota, died Dec. 17, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Graveside services will be Friday, June 23 in 1:30 p.m. at the Story City Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating.

Donald Ysten was born Sept. 4, 1913 in Vermillion, South Dakota. He grew up in South Dakota. He married Patsy A. Quam (daughter of Theodore and Zoe Quam) on Nov. 23, 1948 in Wilmar, Minnesota. They lived in Webster City, where he represented a swine publication until 1951. They cought a rural Kasson farm in 1951 where they raised purebred hogs and Angus cattle. He retired in 1976 and moved to Yucaipa, California. They later lived in Calimesa, California, and Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1993 they moved to Zumbrota, Minnesota. He was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, was past president of Minnesota Swine Producers and past secretary of the Minneota Hampshire Breeders Association. Between 1956 and 1976, he served on the board of Peoples Cooperative Power in Rochester.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; a son, Jon of Zumbrota; a daughter, Penny of Yucaipa, California; a grandson; and a sister, Cladys Stage of Pine Island, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
