Alternate Information: Gravestone lists his age as 73 yrs 10 mos 15 days... (which based on his date of death) calculates his birthday as 3 Oct 1787 (per suggested edit of David Horton).
The Toll-Shaw Family History however provides his date of birth as 27 Jul 1793, along with detailed specifics. (If you desire an electronic copy of the Toll-Shaw Family History just send me a message via Find-a-Grave, provide me with an email address in the message, and I will email a copy. BFP)
Additional Note: It should be noted that Leonard's gravestone had fallen and was broken into two pieces. It was lovingly repaired by a descendant, Ken Neukam (now deceased).

A suggestion was received from Kelly M. Scarff, to include information that Leonard Shaw participated in the War of 1812 with service as a Private in Capt. Longley's Co, Longley's Regiment, Massachusetts Militia. Whereas the Toll-Shaw Family History does indicate that Leonard fought in the War of 1812, we have been unable to validate this claim. Based on this suggestion, additional research was conducted with the following results.
A Leonard Shaw who was a Private in Capt. T. Lyman's Company, Lt.Col. T. Longley's Regiment, Massachusetts Militia served from 13 Sep 1814 to 7 Nov 1814. The unit was raised at Goshen, MA, and vicinity. The regiment served in defense of Boston.
Analysis. Sadly I am unable to confirm that this is our Leonard Shaw. It could be, or it could be a different Leonard Shaw (incidentally per US Census records, there was another Leonard Shaw who did live in Massachusetts who was old enough to have fought in the War of 1812).
