First wife was Mary Ann Taylor (daughter of John Taylor, 3rd President of LDS and Leonora Cannon his first wife) and they had several children: a sonJohny Drummond who died in Shasta, CA; a daughter Leonora Drummond who died in 1864 at age 4, a daughter Eva Drummond, age 7 died in 1863 and daughter Minnie Lulu who was born May 23 1863 ( notice in Colonist 5-23-1863 found). James and Mary Ann apparently divorced about 1865
At his marriage to Elizabeth Tod in 1878, James is noted as being divorced. He and Elizabeth had Lenora Marguerite Drummond and a male child who died shortly after his birth.
According to Jeff Christensen (49918220), his first wife's name was Mary Ann Taylor. The child born May 23, 1863 name was Minnie Lulu.

He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge, a founding member of the Shasta Lodge and the Victoria Lodge

According to his death notice in The Colonist he was a native of Cabrine, Ayrshire, Scotland
Per Ross Bay records, birth city was Cabrine, Scotland.
Unable to locate a Cabrine, however, there is a Catrine, East Ayrshire, Scotland.
