One of the Americans killed in the two-day Battle of White House Landing was Robert Allison Jr., who was buried in Alexandria's Presbyterian Cemetery. Robert Allison who fell in battle on the 5th Sept 1814 at the "white house" landing from the British invasion and burning of Washington DC at age 27 in the War of 1812. Enlisted in the Rev War at age 23.
Robert Allison, Jr. (1787–1814) and Samuel Bowen served as privates in the 1st Regiment, DC Militia. Both were killed on 5 Sept 1814 at the Battle of the White House and were buried the following day in the Presbyterian Cemetery in a service led by the Rev. Dr. James Muir. Bowen's grave has since been lost.

Inscription
The inscription reads: "In memory of Robert 5th Sept. 1814/at the white house/in gallantly defending his country/aged 27 years/Our lives belong to God, & our contry/He was a dutiful son/an affectionate Brother/conciliating in manners/beloved by all/erected by his kinsman/James M.
