Wallace F. Krueger, age 81, of Potter, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born August 9, 1930 in Rural Hilbert, son of the late Violet (Krueger) Wettstein. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Following his discharge, Wally married Evangeline Loose on January 11, 1951 in Potter. He had also worked at the Carnation Company, the foundry and began working at Reidel Heating & Plumbing. After a number of years, Wally earned the title of Master Plumber and created his own plumbing business. During this time, he became certified as a Waste Water Treatment Engineer, and operated the Potter Sewer Plant. He proudly stated that he had installed sewer in nearly every house in Potter.

Following his retirement at the age of 62, Wally was promoted to the position of Potter Caretaker; a position which allowed him the opportunity to help anyone in need with any sort of handyman project. He had been a member of the Potter Fire Department, the Community Association, and helped start the Potter Athletic Department. He enjoyed his flowers, the goldfish in his pond, everything about his tractor and the history and care of the Potter Cemetery. He was known to tinker with anything he could get his hands on and faithfully traced his family genealogy.

Survivors include his wife (Tootie)Evangeline; his three and a half dozen children: Joyce Schaefer and her partner Renee Lundberg. Joan (Steven) Schmahl, Judy Hillmann and her special friend, Russel Landwehr, John (Donna) Krueger, Jane (Larry) Krueger, Julie (Bruce) Gerner, Jeff (Karyl) Krueger, Janine (Michael) Bratz, Jamie Krueger; a son-in-law, Glen Schaefer; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Wettstein; a sister-in-law, Val "Annabelle" Wettstein; two brothers-in-law, Elroy (Bernette) Loose and Gene (Helen) Loose; and special friends, Fritz & Abbie Jannette. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents: Ferdinand and Emma Krueger; an infant grandchild, Baby Schaefer; two brothers, Rodney and Eugene Wettstein; and a sister, Doris Hostettler.

Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Peace E&R Church (181 Main St.) in Potter with the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012.
