Marvin W. Iverson, 86, of Brookings, SD, went to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Dougherty Hospice House, in Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be 10:30am Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Brookings Wesleyan Church, in Brookings. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings. Rude's Funeral Home, of Brookings, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marvin W. Iverson, son of Knudt and Lulu (McMillan) Iverson was born on February 20, 1926 in Carpenter, SD. He grew up and received his education in Doland, graduating in 1945. He joined the Army-Air Force on November 15, 1945, and served during World War II.

After serving in the Air Force Weather Bureau he returned to work on the family farm and hired out for work. While working he met and was united in marriage to Mildred A. Lundy on June 20, 1949 at Willow Lake. They moved to Brookings in 1950 where Marvin graduated from South Dakota State University and continued his education through many other venues. He worked at Kjellsens, Robertsons, Sidles, and then became an Automotive Instructor at Brookings High School and the Multidistrict. He taught there until he retired in 1988. Through the years he helped many people with their automotive problems. He was always willing and very able to help.

Marvin enjoyed life and loved his Lord. He was a member of the Brookings Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising wood ducks, camping, coffee at Country Kitchen and flying kites with his children and grandchildren. He was a great auto mechanic and handyman, known for his ability to fix anything. His kind heart, gentle spirit and patience were treasured and respected by many. Faithful to his vow, he loved and cherished Mildred for over 62 years.

Grateful for having shared his life are, his wife, Mildred Iverson, of Brookings, SD; his son, Donnell (Natalie) Iverson, of Arlington, SD; daughter Regina (Terry) VanDyke, of Sioux Falls, SD; son Kevin (Holly) Iverson, of Yankton, SD; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Travis (Mikela), Miah and Kenzie Iverson, Kasey Iverson; Darwin (Nicole), Miles VanDyke, Shantrel (Dan De Jong) VanDyke; Kaylee (Calvin) Neill, Justin (Kimberly) Iverson and John Iverson; his brothers, Alvin Iverson, Leland (Kathy) Iverson, Delmer (Barbara) Iverson, Gerald (Darlene) Iverson; sister, Marvilyn (Doug) Albright; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Clinton Fossell, Marlene and Lowell Wheeler, Florene and Stan Foresman.

He was preceded in death by his son, Darwin Terry Iverson, his parents, his brother, Arnold Iverson, his sisters, Joyce Iverson and Alverta (Thomas) Reilly, and his sister-in-law, Bernice Fossell.

We look forward to the day when we will be reunited together in heaven with Jesus.
