Funeral services for Mary Lou Blaylock Matthews of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the
Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona. Rev. Rupert Ingram will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Matthews died of cancer at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven on Sunday, June 17. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Lonnie R. and Winnie Stanley Blaylock. She was a retired telephone operator and office clerk with Bellsouth and she also worked as the MED-ARM account clerk at Grenada Lake Medical Center. She was the retired office manager for Lee Funeral Home in Winona. Mrs. Matthews was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Winona and the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Blaylock.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harley T. Matthews of Winona; two daughters, Sara Wanda Matthews Brett of Starkville and Monica Lynn Matthews Ashley
of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Harley Thomas Matthews of Winona and Timothy Lee Matthews of Winona; two brothers, Charles Blaylock of Winona and Phil Blaylock of Madison; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Blaylock, Harley Matthews, Donald Ashley Jr., Nicholas Brett, Bracky Brett, and Riley Tolbert.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 541 Lower Bethlehem Road, Winona, MS 38967.
