(1905 - 1994)

Irvin C. Schleis, age 89, formerly of 2122 Granger Rd., Manitowoc, who had been residing at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc, passed away Sunday, March 20, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 1994, at the Jens Funeral Home. Rev. James Barnes, Pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

He was born January 2, 1905, in Kewaunee, son of the late Charles and Josephine Stangel Schleis. He attended schools in Kewaunee and later graduated from Milwaukee Barber School. He married Ione Seidl on September 15, 1930, in Kewaunee, returning to make their home in Manitowoc, where he was a barber for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ione, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sharon Schleis, Manitowoc; a sister, Adelaide Schleis, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Jay and his wife, Karen Schleis, Cameron, Wis., Jeffrey and his wife Cheryl Schleis, Holmen, Wis., Heather and her husband, Brian Roberts, Madison; five great grandchildren, Jena and Daniel Schlies (sic), Cameron, Dayna and Bradey Schlies (sic), Holmen, and Samuel Roberts, Madison, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at the Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Garden Fund.

Miss Ione Seidl and Schleis Wed
KEWAUNEE—
Miss Ione Seidl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Seidl, Kewaunee, became the bride of Irvin Schleis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schleis, West Kewaunee, at a ceremony performed at the Holy Rosary Catholic church here Monday morning at nine o'clock, by the Rev. W.C. Kubale. The bride wore a beautiful dress of white chiffon and a veil and carried a shower bouquet. She was attended by Miss Adelaide Schleis, who wore a gown of peach crepe de chine, and carried an arm bouquet. Stanley Schleis attended the groom .

The bride has always lived in Kewaunee where she attended the local schools, graduating from the Kewaunee High school with the class of 1923. Until her marriage she was employed as a stenographer at the Kewaunee Manufacturing company. The groom also attended the Kewaunee school, and later took up the barber trade at Milwaukee, which occupation he now follows at Manitowoc.

A reception was given at the home of the bride's parents, a wedding dinner being served to about 200 guests. The home was decorated in yellow and white.

The young couple are taking a trip to Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska and plan to be gone about two weeks, after which time they will make their home at 930 South 19th Street, Manitowoc.
