James A. "Jim" Haas lifelong resident of Naperville James A. "Jim" Haas, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at his home under hospice care after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Aurora, Ill., He was the loving husband of the late Virginia "Ginny" (nee Phillips) Haas, whom he married April 17, 1953, and who preceded him in death Sept. 27, 2003; beloved father of Debbie (Keith) Jackson of Valparaiso, Ind., Sue (Roy) Dover of Springfield, Mo., Michael Haas of Naperville, Sandy (Anthony) Cremente of Houston, Texas, Terri (Jim) Myers of Columbus, Ohio, Timothy (Sandy Isenogle) Haas of Phoenix, Ariz., and Andy (Rose Newsome) Haas of Oswego, Ill.; adored grandfather of 16; cherished great-grandfather of two; treasured friend of Vivien Lindsey; devoted son of the late Frank J. and Clara (nee Assell) Haas, dear brother of Richard Haas of Fox Lake and Catherine (John) Schoellkopf of Dallas, Texas; and fond uncle and friend of many. Jim grew up in Naperville, attended SS. Peter & Paul Grade School and was a 1949 graduate of Naperville Community High School. He honorably served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and worked for many years as a plumber belonging to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #501 since 1954. Jim was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, volunteered at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville and was formerly an active member of the Naperville American Legion Post #43, Loyal Order of the Moose and Knights of Columbus. He coached the Naperville Moose Little League baseball team for over 30 years and also enjoyed bowling, golf and woodworking. Visitation is Wednesday, March 30, 4 to 8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville. Services will begin Thursday, March 31, 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 800 Roosevelt Road, Building C, #206, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 or Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
