Mrs. James Brandenburg Dies at University Hospital at Iowa City Following Operation.
Ms. James Brandenburg, 41, mother of nine children, passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City early Sunday morning, Oct. 17, 1938, following an operation performed ten days ago. Her remains were brought to the Shelly funeral home here, where services are being held this (Tuesday) afternoon, in charge of Rev. A. E. Hursh. Burial is being made in Oakland cemetery here.
Else May Hines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hines, was born in Clayton county, Ia., Nov. 11th, 1896, and lived in that vicinity until her marriage, upon her eighteenth birthday, Nov. 11, 1914, at Littleport, to James Brandenburg, then of that locality. They continued to live in that section for several years following their marriage, and moved to Manchester twenty years ago, since their home.
Survivors are the husband, of Manchester; the following children; Arthur, Dubuque; Herbert and Wilbur, Mrs. Walter Meader, Merwin, Lucille Lavina, Junior and Boyd Brandenburg, all of Manchester; her mother; and several brothers and sisters, among them; Ervin Hines, Manchester; Howard Hines, Dubuque; Morris Hines, Manchester; Mrs. Paul Perry, Dubuque; Chrisie Hines, Manchester; Deliah Hines and Mrs. Arvilla Cole, Dubuque; Leonard and Sylvan Hines, Manchester; Pansy and Zelia Hines, Glenwood; Letha Hines, Davenport'; and Verda Hines Jewell, South Standard, Ill.
Mr. Brandenburg and his children have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.
