OBITUARY OF CHARLES F. KREIMEYER

Charles F. Kreimeyer, a lifelong resident of Deshler and a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church, died in his sleep Thursday morning, May 21, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 4 days.

The son of Henry D. Kreimeyer and his wife, Rosine, nee Mensing, he was born September 17, 1884, at Friedensau, the former site of Deshler. A week later he was baptized in Peace Lutheran Church by Pactor (sic) C. Buechler. In checking the church records it was found that this was the 11th baptism in the history of the congregation.

Pastor John Schwerin confirmed the departed, together with eight others, on April 3, 1898. On Feb. 8, 1916, he was united in marriage with Alvina Oehlman. God blessed this marriage with two daughters, Vera and Lulu.

The deceased had been in very poor health especially the past few years. In His mercy God shortened the days of his suffering and ill health by taking him to Himself without any seeming struggle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry; two half brothers, Albert and Edward; two half sisters, Carrie and Ella.

There remain to cherish his memory the widow, Alvina, of Deshler; two daughters, Vera Behring of Los Angeles, Calif, and Lulu, and her husband, Harley Buntenbach, Chicago; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild, also one half brother, William Kiemmeyer, Deshler; one half sister, Mrs. Albert Ropers; and one step sister, Mrs. Oscar Sagehorn, Deshler; besides other relatives, fellow church members and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 24, from Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor Erwin F. Janssen based his sermon on Rev. 19:7 and Matthew 25:10. The congregation sang "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair And High" and "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less Than Jesus Blood And Righteousness". "Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me" was sung by the senior choir. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ernst Kolling, Ernst Behring, Charles Behring, Gary Buntenbach, Fred Buntemeyer and Melvin Kreimeyer.
