Fracture of Leg Three Weeks Ago is Believed to Have Hastened Death
Mrs. Albertina Schilb passed away at her home, 523 South Fifth street, August 13 after an illness of a couple months. She had been suffering with diabetes for about two months. About three weeks ago she sustained a broken leg, which fall is believed to have hastened her death.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, George and Harry Schilb and Rudolph Creger, all of Brainerd. One son, Wilhelm, passed away five years ago, and her husband, John Schilb predeceased her 19 years ago.
She also leaves six step children, ten grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. August Butka, Mrs. Herman Blank and Miss Amelia Creger, all of Brainerd.
Mrs. Schilb was born in Germany, near Berlin, 79 years ago, and came to this country in 1882. She was united in marriage to John Schilb in 1886 and has made her home in Brainerd for the past 47 years. Since her husband's death 19 years ago, she has made her home with her sons, George and Harry Schilb.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and at 2:30 from the Presbyterian church, Rev. B. O. Engen of the Seventh Day Advent church officiating. In 1900 census for Brainerd, "Louise Kreger", 75, b. Apr 1875 (sic - 1825) is head of household. Daughter Emelia Kreger, b. Dec 1854 is living with her. Both emigrated in 1883.
In 1910 census for Brainerd, Fredericka Krueger, 85, is head of household, and living with her is her daughter Amelia, 59.
Since Albertina's obit says she is the sister of Amelia "Creger", and Amelia is the daughter of Fredericka in the 1900 and 1910 censuses, Albertina, and her sisters are all children of Fredericka and Michael Krueger. [Contributed by John Van Essen]
