OBITUARY: (published in The Journal Star Peoria, Illinois Jan 29, 1969) Mrs. Emma McCoy, 92, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday in Walker's Nursing Home in Peoria, where she was a resident the past five years. She was the mother of Mrs. Arla Bottomley of Pekin.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home at Centerville, Iowa where friends may call this evening. Burial will be at Exline, Iowa.
She was born at Moulton, Iowa Aug 13, 1876, the daughter of John and Cynthia Scurlock Daniels. She was married to William Ellis on Dec. 1, 1897 in Appanoose County, Iowa and he died Dec 5, 1909. She married Gilbert McCoy at Exline, Iowa in November 1915 and he died in 1930.
Surviving are two sons, Luther Ellis of Oklahoma City, Okla., and George Ellis of Plymouth, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Bottomley of Pekin and Mrs. Marguerite Kohler of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ora Streepy of Centerville, Iowa. A son, a daughter and two brothers preceded her in death. She was a member of the Christian Church of Exline Iowa.
