The daughter of the late Adolph F. and Catherine Schmid Hubler, Clara was born July 20, 1912 in New Albany. She was devoted to her faith and a charter member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany. She was the bookkeeper and partner for the family business, Fidelity Roofing for many years. She was also the hostess and cook for all family gatherings, through age 90, and was an accomplished seamstress. One of her greatest attributes was her ability to make each of her grandchildren know how special they were to her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman A. Hock; and siblings, John and Adolph Hubler, Mary Lambden and Catherine Hubler.
Survivors include: children, Sr. Christine Hock, R.G.S , Anna Powell (Bill), H.David Hock (Patsy) , and Barbara Hock-Meyer (Bill): sister, Rita Hubler ; brother, Victor Hubler (Mary); grandchildren, Lisa Powell, Bill Powell, Starr Freudenburg and Heather Sams; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Jack Sams, Zachary, Billy and Madeline Powell.
Visitation will be noon-7 p.m. Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. Her Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, New Albany.
