Lydia W. Dahlstrom, age 101, of Ashland, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the Court Manor Health and Rehabilitation Services in Ashland. She was born September 18, 1901 in Ashland, the daughter of Fred and Amelia (Bienborn) Wendt.

Lydia lived in the Ashland area most of her life. She married Edward T. Dahlstrom on June 6, 1937 in Ashland. Lydia gave piano lessons for many years. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashland and was the church organist for many years. She was active in both PTA and Music Mothers. She loved picking berries and enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters: Mary Young of Minneapolis, Minn. and Nellie Dahlstrom of North Mankato, Minn., a step-daughter Jean Somppi of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister Elfrieda Kozar of St. Paul, Minn. and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward on December 20, 1986, her parents and six brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Julius Manteufel officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday at the church. Burial will take place in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland at a later date.
