Services for Ernest Joshua Shelley, 80, of Redding, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Redding Fifth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bishop Richard Estes will officiate.
Burial will be at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding. Visitation is until 8 p.m. tonight and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allen and Dahl Chapel in Redding.
Mr. Shelley died Saturday at his home.
Born June 30, 1905 in Silver City, N.M., he moved to Shasta County 40 years ago from Oakland.
He was a carpenter for 45 years, a member of Carpenters Union Local 1599 of Redding and a member of the Mormon Church.
He is survived by wife Iona; sons Roy of Redding, Rex of Concord, and Leonard of Quail Valley; daughters Audrey Barber of Cottonwood, Viola Thompson of Marysville, Theola McKenzie of Palo Cedro, and Nadine Sanders of Redding; brothers Walter of St. George, Utah, and Sherman of Eureka, Nev.; and sister Fay Broadbent of Fredonia, Ariz.
