"MORRIS - Mrs. Alice May Stafford, aged 77, of Morris died Wednesday, October 10, at Fox Hospital, Oneonta after two weeks illness. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Morris Baptist church. The Rev. Paul H. Scruton, pastor officiated. Burial was in Hillington Cemetery. Mrs. Stafford was born February 1, 1879 in Morris, daughter of the late Dr. Merritt and Irene (Mansfield) Matteson. She married Walter Stafford in 1904. He died in 1939. She was a member of the Morris Baptist Church and had been affiliated with the church off and on over sixty years ... She is survived by two sons: Robert and Richard Stafford of Morris; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Barker of Norwich; Mrs. Anne Chapin of Bayside, L. I.; five grandchildren, Connie, Carol, Virginia, Richard, Jr., and Peter Stafford of Morris; also several nieces and nephews. Bearers were Scott Gage; Hobart Lull, Ralph Lull, Glenn Marble, Leonard Hoyer and James McNitt. Relatives attended from Bayside, L. I., Albany, Norwich, and Laurens."
