In memory of John Paul, Sr. who died at Arbigland, October 24, 1767, universally esteemed.
Below appears an inscription: Erected by John Paul, Jr.
"John Paul was the original name of Admiral Jones, I take great interest in the history of the Admiral, and the local tradition or parish documents suggest nothing at variance with the accepted opinion that he died in Paris and was buried in the Protestant cemetery there."
