Franklin was noted as a Greek schloar and numbered the late Dr. Basil L. Gildersleeve, long professor of Greek at Johns Hopkins University, among his intimate friends.
Besides a widow, Mrs. Martha Porter Brent, he is survived by two sons, Franklin Pierce Brent Jr. and John P. Brent both of NY. and two daughters, Mrs. R. A. Savedge and Miss Helen Brent of Dendron, VA.
