NOTE: Although the correct spelling for Dutch surname is Van Ett, variations have been observed in records. Mosly, it was written as Vanett or VanEtt and sometimes Vanette. It appears that later generations just simply write Vanett. Vanetti, Vanette, Van Ette, Vannet, are also possible variants. For searchability purposes and consistency, I will use this surname VanEtt.

Winfield Scott VAN ETT was born in 1847 in Ohio (both OH and MI were mentioned) to Isaac VAN ETT and Arvilla CHEESTON. His family moved to Calhoun County, Michigan. They lived very close to the Riley property.

Scott, as he was often called, married Lucretia Melvina RILEY on 18 Nov 1869 in Athens, Calhoun Co., MI.

They had four children.
Clarence E VAN ETT (who married several times)
Mabel VANETTE Adams(died as young lady)
Edna Laverne "Varnie" VANETT Smith Wilson
Lawrence William VANETT

Winfield was buried at North Athens Cemetery. His parents were buried there.

Will edit - I have lots of info to add. More to come.
