When Irene finished her elementary grades, she boarded in Lebanon, MO, and attended Lebanon HS for 4 years; then she graduated from Southwestern Missouri Teachers College. Her first teaching job was in the Monitor School in Dade Co., MO.
Guyla married the boy from an adjoining farm on June 12, 1925, Claude Lindsay; they had 3 children: Clinton, Gale, and Max.
Claude owned a small trucking company and did contract work for oil companies. When he sold his business in 1941, they retired to a farm northwest of Fort Gibson.
Guyla was active in the community, Eastern Star, and in the United Methodist Church and the Old Fort Demonstration Club at Fort Gibson.
