It is not sure where she married James Kennen, for their first child was born in 1836 in Illinois. As for James Kennen it is not sure what he did for a living for he does not show up on any Federal Census records but Melissa and her children do living with her father and mother in Illinois. Of their union they had six children; Arnold, born 1836, Illinois; Orpha J., born 10 May 1840 in Ohio; Omar, born 6 March, 1842, Illinois; Eliza, born 1845, Illinois; Albert Louis, born August, 1849, Warren County, Illinois; Edward C., born 3 January, 1853, Warren County, Illinois. Sometime in 1854 and 1860 she and her children moved to Indian Township, Pike County, Missouri. It was in the 1860 Federal Census that showed them living Indian Township, listing only her and her children again. Melissa pasted away on 20 January, 1892 Indian Township, Pike County, Missouri and is buried at New Harmony Christian Church Cemetery, Indian Township, Pike County, Missouri.
