From the Manitowoc Pilot, Thursday, July 6, 1871
We were pained to learn, late, last evening of the death and burial of the wife and life long partner of our much esteemed friend Thos. Goggins, Esq., in the town of Franklin. The deceased came to this country with her husband among the first of the early settlers, and has been known, loved and respected for her many virtues and kind hospitalities as the very large concourse of people at her funeral yesterday attested. Always kind to the poor and needy, giving from their bountiful plenty with which Providence has blessed them, with a liberal hand, the bereaved husband and friends have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.
