Cpl. Taylor J. Baune, 21, of Andover, Minn., died June 13 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Preceded in death by mother, Melinda Holm. Survived by loving wife, Colleen Baune; father, Gary (Sheila Schmidt) Baune; brother, Dusty Holm; sister, Lindee Holm; grandparents, John and Carolyn Baune and Sharon & Paul Palthen; uncle, John (Gina) Palthen; aunt, Mary Jo Yzermans; cousins, Chelsi and Kenzi Yzermans; and many, many friends. Taylor taught others how to love unconditionally. He had a passion for life that was hard to come by. Once he set his mind on something, there was no turning back -- like his decision to join the Marine Corps. As much as he hated to be away from his family, he loved fighting overseas for our country. He was a hero then and will continue to be a hero in everyone's eyes. Although he is gone, he will continue to be loved and never forgotten. Taylor has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him here on earth, but he is now reunited with his mother as an angel in Heaven.
