Lela Annie Lowe Christensen, better known as Grandma Hugs, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006 in Boise, Idaho at the age of 85. She was born July 11, 1920 in Springville, Utah to William Nephi Lowe and Mary Louisa Powell. She married Wayne J. Christensen January 28, 1941 in Springville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple May 4, 1993.

Lela wrote a lot of poetry and loved her garden. She never met anyone she considered a stranger and always had a good sense of humor. Lela served as a nursery worker in the LDS Church for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann Capobianco; one son, Lester Christensen; one sister, Ada Nickolls; 9 grandchildren and many great and great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Scott; one son, Wayne LeRoy Christensen; and her husband, Wayne J. Christensen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. There will be a viewing held at the mortuary Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
