Bruce "Scotty" Bierce went to high school in Cuyahoga Falls, OH and college at the University of Akron, OH. He was a football defensive end for the AFPA Akron Pros, the NFL Buffalo All-Americans, NFL Cleveland Indians and NFL Cleveland Bulldogs. In 1920 he was on the league-best Akron Pros in the precursor to the National Football League. In 1921 he tied for the league lead in fumbles returned for touchdown. In 1922, in only four games (started only two) he tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns. In 1923, he was second in the league in receiving touchdowns. In 1924, he was on the league-best Cleveland Bulldogs. He was also a player-coach for the Akron Pros in 1925, going 4-2-2, not suffering a loss in the first six games, shutting out the powerful Detroit Panthers. When he was done with football, he became an attorney in Akron, OH. A scholarship has been established in his name at the University of Akron.
