"The death of Mrs. Elvantine L. Steere, widow of Frederick J. Steere, of Fly Creek, occurred Friday night at the home in Hornell of her son-in-law and daughter, School Superintendent and Mrs. Harrison S. Dodge. She was 83 years of age. Mrs. Steere was born in the town of Hartwick on October 22, 1868, a daughter of Menzo and Lucinda (Robinson) Ingalls, and was married August 16, 1888 to Mr. Steere whose death occurred in 1949. She was a member of the Fly Creek Methodist church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dodge and Mrs. Raymond Thornton of Glen Ridge, N.J.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Burdette Ingalls and Harry Ingalls, both of Hartwick Seminary; and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Hayes of Hartwick Seminary and Mrs. Allen Shumway of Cooperstown ...
