STILLWATER — Services for James Woodrow McDaniel, 71, Stillwater, formerly of the Fitzhugh area are 10 a.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Terrell Rushing officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery. The family is receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. McDaniel died Monday, March 19, 2012, at his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1940, to Glen Woodrow and Treva Lenora Sykes McDaniel.
He graduated from Fitzhugh High School, attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
He married Jacki Sue Carpenter on July 31, 1989, in Ada.
Mr. McDaniel was a farmer and rancher and served two terms in the Oklahoma State Senate from 1976 until 1984. He formerly attended Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Ada, was a member of the Roff Masonic Lodge and had served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Jacki McDaniel, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Susie McDaniel, Stillwater; a daughter, Lesley Ann McDaniel of Layton, Utah: two step-sons, Cory Carpenter, Norman, and Zachary Fuchs, Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren, Cody McDaniel, Cade McDaniel, Wyatt Knott, Kaylyn Landes and Koye Chipman.
Bearers are Cory Carpenter, Zachary Fuchs, Cody McDaniel, Chris Wilkins, Roger Cupps and Geoff Mills.
