The parents of Edith were William Henry Sanford b.1860 in Montross, Westmoreland Co, Virginia d.1900 by drowning off of Rock Hall in the Bay. Like most of the Sanfords he was a waterman (Oysters). Her mother was Alice Virginia Whaland b.Sept1866 in Maryland-d. 12 May 1931.
