Joseph Marshall, age 78, died at 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 9 at his home on R.R. 1, Metamora, of an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. Franklin County Coroner Dave Cook investigated.

A retired farmer, Mr. Marshall was the son of William and Margaret Bailey Marshall. He was born April 4, 1904, in Owsley County, Kentucky.

Mr. Marshall was a member of the Laurel Pentecostal Church.

His wife, the former Margaret Bradford, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

His only survivors include a brother, Harvey Marshall of R.R. 1, Metamora and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 11 by Rev. James Parrett at the Moster and Sons Mortuary in Laurel. Burial was in the Cupps Chapel Cemetery.
