Our Dad, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend and Storyteller, Robert E. Adams, passed away Tuesday morning of complications from cancer and age.
We will miss his storied histories about his time in the CCC camps, and as a semi professional baseball player, until that career was interrupted by World War II.
He spent time in the Merchant Marines and survived his ship being sunk, later in the Air Force he was stationed in England. He worked for the State of Utah as a Crew Foreman for many years until he retired in 1982. He then worked part time for Rick Warner Ford driving a shuttle. We his family will remember his laugh and sense of humor, his fondness for his animals, and the way he could always spin a good tale (sometimes tall). In the end he kept asking what the score of the baseball game was. His family hopes he's found the game he was looking for in his own personal field of dreams.
He was born Robert Edward Adams, August 7, 1920 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Charles Edward Adams and Wilma Bush Adams. Dad passed away January 10, 2006 in Salt Lake City.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette "Jeanne" Adams, Brother Charles (Roni) Adams of Boise, Id. Children: Mike (Cherry) Brown of Washington D.C, Ron (Chris) Brown of Bozeman Mt., Phil (Sue) Brown of Salt Lake, Kerry (Tess) Brown of Salt Lake, Scott (Neva) Brown of Henderson Nv., and Kathy (Lance) Hammett of Salt Lake City, Niece: Celin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as two children from a former marriage Wally and Linda, and latest faithful friend Dusty.
A Graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery Friday, January 13, 2006 Funeral Directors Evans & Early Mortuary
