Ernest H. Emmerich Jr., 80, of Huron, and formerly of Vermilion, died Monday, May 28, 2012, in Admiral's Pointe Health Center after a lengthy illness.
Ernest was born June 8, 1931, in Berlinville, Ohio. He lived in Lorain and Vermilion before moving to Huron. Ernest worked for BFI retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Brownhelm United Church of Christ, enjoyed steam engines, riding bicycles and walking. He was a former member of the Teamsters Local Union 57.
He is survived by his sister Margaret McClouth of Tyler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha; his parents, Ernest and Elsie (Ott) Emmerich; sisters, Elizabeth Emmerich, Ruth Cox and Alice Eddinton; and his brother August Emmerich.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. The Rev. Louis Bertoni will officiate. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
