Herbert Edward Holliday Jr., age 73, loving father and husband, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Darlene Holliday of Albuquerque, daughter, Linda Perry and her husband, Dave of Albuquerque, sons, Bob Holliday and his wife, Joyce of Plano, TX and Steve Holliday and his wife, Peggy of Albuquerque, son-in-law, Doug Loyd of Charlottesville, VA, father, H.E. Holliday Sr. of Berryton, KS, sister, Barbara Simmer of Topeka, KS, grandchildren, John Perry and Lisa P. Todd, Lara Hamilton, Julie and Sara Loyd, Robbie, Ryan, and Rachael Holliday, and Michael and Issac Holliday.
Herbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda H. Loyd in 1995 and mother, Irene Holliday in 1997.
Herb and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1961 from Berryton, KS. Herbert owned Hiland Lanes bowling alley until entering the real estate business in 1964. In 1987, Herb retired from Walter and Hinkle Realtors with over 22 years of service. Herb greatly enjoyed his career and continued to own and manage real estate properties in his retirement.
Herb was a past member and 50 year member of Albert Neese Lodge #248 AF&AM in Tecumseh, KS and was a member of Clarice Chapter #390, OES, of Wakarusa, KS.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, 2528 Utah NE, with Rev. Alan Abraham officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, with Temple Lodge #6 AF&AM presiding. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Tuesday, June 22, 1999, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sombra Del Monte Christian Church.
