Ione Blankenstein was born in Temple, Texas, but she lived her early childhood in Waco, and in 1918, her parents moved the family to Fort Worth. In 1926, Ione's parents bought the small farm of her late grandparents, Gottfried and Marie Blankenstein, in the Gerald Community, northeast of Waco, where the family moved and Ione spent much of her teenaged years living there. Ione attended Baylor University's nursing school program and eventually, she became both a RN and a LVN. As a young lady, Ione moved to Fort Worth where she began her nursing career. Ione married Fred Alexander Taylor on March 12, 1938, in Fort Worth, and they became the parents of two children, Carol Sue Taylor and Fred Robert Taylor. After the death of her husband, Fred Taylor, in 1957, Ione married Homer O. Brown on August 8, 1958. They were married six years when Homer died in 1964. In the later years of her nursing career, Ione became a private nurse and one of her patients was Mrs. Anne Tandy, a member of one of Fort Worth's most prominent families, and owners of the Tandy Corporation. Ione also became interested in the real estate business, and in her early 70s, she studied and received her real estate license. Ione also purchased property in Granbury, Texas, and she and her widowed father later moved from Fort Worth to Granbury. After being widowed nearly 23 years, and almost at the age of 75, Ione married a third time to Charles "Charlie" Head. They were married at the home of Charlie's daughter in Nashville, Tennessee on October. 5, 1987. Ione and Charlie lived in Charlie's home in Granbury. Ione and Charlie divorced September 16, 2002.

OBITUARY FROM THE FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM: Oct. 2, 2003

Ione Taylor Brown Head

FORT WORTH--Ione Taylor Brown Head, 90, a registered nurse, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at a local hospital.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ione was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Temple. She was a registered nurse in the Fort Worth area for over 40 years and was much sought after because of her gentleness and compassion for her patients. After she retired from nursing, she took on the task of studying real estate and became a real estate agent at age 74. She was the kindest, most giving and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and friend, and her family will miss her forever. We were very blessed to have had her in our lives for such a long time and we treasure the memories we have of her. She was our angel on earth. She was a past member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church. Ione loved flowers, especially roses, and, when she was able, would try to spend time in the garden. She was crazy about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ella Blankenstein; brother, Bill Miller; husband, Fred A. Taylor; brother, Robert Blankenstein, his wife and his son; and her second husband, Homer O. Brown.
Survivors: Her daughter, Carol S. Nichols; son, Fred R. Taylor; grandchildren, Scott, Cindy and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb and Catelyn, all of Fort Worth; other close family and friends; step-daughter, June Zaner of Houston; stepson, Sonnye Head of Seattle; and many relatives in the Waco area.
