Illness Fatal To Local Matron
Mrs. Susan Almond, 73, of 606 3rd St. W., died at her home Sunday at midnight of Uremic poisoning. She had been ill for a week.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1882 in Madrid, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jute P. Anderson. She was married to Melvin L. Almond in Ree Heights, S.D., in January, 1901. Her husband died on April 29, 1946 in Townsend.
Mrs. Almond and her husband lived in South Dakota until 1916 when they moved to Hysham. They moved to Lodge Grass in 1934. She came to Billings in 1946 following her husband's death.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
Survivors include three sons, Arnold V. Almond of 2507 Yellowstone Ave., Rayburn R. Almond of Red Oaks, Iowa, and Carl Almond of Hysham; four daughters, Mrs. O. Workman of 303 Custer Ave., Mrs. Harry Swanson of 623 N. 26th St., Mrs. Verlin Johnson of Forsyth and Mrs. Wayne Griswell of Wyola; two brothers, Alvin Anderson of Big Horn, and Rudolph Anderson of Miller. S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Exley of Kalispell and Mrs. Walter Johnson of Forsyth; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Settergren's Chapel. J.R. Snavely, of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Billings, will officiate. Burial will be in Mountview Cemetery.
