The Minden (La) Democrat (Oct. 27, 1911)

On Sunday, October 15th, 1911, there passed into the City of God the soul of Mrs. Fannie Carr Butler. For the past month Mrs. Butler had been ill and altho her family knew that the end was near they were not prepared to give up the sweet guilding hand that for two years had ministered to the comforts of those so dear to her. She was the eldest of a large family whose Names are honored throughout the Parish and her friends are without number. Almost her entire life was spent in the Pine Grove neighborhood. It was there that she reared her children, for thirty years she taught a Sunday School Class in the church that is nestled in the pines; so closely was she identified with the church that should she be absent from a single service the members hastened to know the cause. 'Tis wisely said that the best preparation for death is a well spent life and surely this noble Christian woman has fallen asleep in the arms of Jesus. Christian duty was the beacon light that led her through the sorrows and vicissitudes of life. Two years ago she came to Minden to live with her son, Mr. G.C. Butler and preside over the home bereft of a devoted mother and here her sweet gentle influence was felt and the imprint left upon the hearts and minds of the grandchildren she came to cheer and comfort. Monday morning the remains were carried to Pine Grove and beside her devoted husband she was laid to rest in the sacred spot she loved so well. Rev. E.K. Means, the pastor of the Methodist Church paid a beautiful tribute to her life and character. Tenderest sympathy is extended the bereaved family in this hour of sorrow.
